I've been doing a low carb/high fat/moderate protein diet for two weeks now. I'm SURE I suffered symptoms of 'keto flu' last week (fatigue, nausea, headache, feeling crummy in general) and yet when I received my ketosis test strips in the mail yesterday they showed only trace amounts of ketones! I've been very VERY careful about my carb intake (keeping it under 30g per day), and moderate with my protien, so what could be the problem? I have been drinking diet soda; some sites say this is alright others say no. I'm heavier today than I was two weeks ago, but that might be due to my over enthusiasm of being allowed to eat fat, therefore consuming more calories than necessary. I plan to eat more green veggies and less butter and whipped cream this coming week. Anyway, my biggest concern (and question) is why am I not in ketosis?? And yes, I tested multiple times between last night and this afternoon with the same negative result. Any ideas out there?

What kind of Keto test strips did you use?
I would absolutely ditch the soda for a while and see if it helps. Every body is different. Some people do ok loosing weight while drinking diet soda. Others, like me, are negatively affected by anything that even tastes sweet.
It's been months since you posted and I am a new member of this board. Would you care to share how you are doing now?

Since the test strips only work for the first few weeks of your diet, you will want to place your order for a ketonix breath analyzer device.
