Hey all!
I first did the ketogenic diet when I was trying to lose a few pounds for the summer and got great results. However once I got them I would drop the diet entirely and binge eat the carbs I "deprived" myself all along.
Over the past few years I noticed things that started to really bother me about my life such as a continuing inability to focus on what actually matters, short-term memory problems and struggling to actually enjoy anything.
It just felt like life was passing me by and that I was on a downward spiral I couldn't get out of.
I would later get diagnosed with adult A.D.D which is something I pretty much knew I had all along anyway. However, I remembered how happy and focused I was when I used to undergo the keto diet in the months before the summer in a bid to lose any extra flab that was hanging around.
I started to do more research on the effects of the ketogenic diet on not only weight loss, but the benefits it has for people with attention and focus problems. Books like "Grain Brain" lay it out pretty good.
So I decided to get rid of the mindset of the ketogenic diet being a short-term solution, and instead see it as a long term way of improving my quality of life. The results have been incredible so far and I feel like a completely different person. I am accomplishing and setting out to do things that I would never been able to do before. I am also excelling at tasks that would have bored me before, but are nonetheless so important.
I've of course lost a few extra pounds of fat, but the main benefits and I have been noticing are my mood, mindset and ability to focus on pay attention to what I actually want to do. This allows me to actually look forward to the rest of my life and enjoy what happens every day, instead of just getting through it like I felt I was doing in the past. I actually work as a freelance writer online and just changing my diet round has helped me to excel and expand my career in this area as I a have finally been able to get down to do the work that is necessary, instead of dwindling away hours and overloading myself with information.
Anyway, I've decided to put together a book which is something I've always wanted to do, but never thought I actually could be capable of before. It's not going to be too complicated or anything-it's pretty much a book about the ketogenic diet. What it is, how it works, et cetera.
I am also going to put in around 50 recipes divided between breakfast lunch and dinner that will hopefully prove useful. I'm aiming for these recipes to be little bit different and unique as a I found once I decided to take on this diet long-term ,I had make sure I would be eat something different to just bacon and eggs for breakfast everyday and staking green beans for dinner. I am still deciding on things that I can add that will also be useful to any readers as well.
I know for myself,it took hours upon hours of research and experience to be able to filter out the actual useful information about the ketogenic and similiar diets that is out there.
I'm aware that there are some books already out there, but I'm really just doing this book to prove to myself that I can put something together that can provide value to people's lives.
My aim is to be able to present this book to someone like my father, who is aware of the benefits of the ketogenic diet and has had small successes with it in the past, but seems to get lost or give up and ends up back where he started. I've opened this post to keep myself focused along the way and keep anyone who is interested updated on how I am getting on!
If you have any ideas on how to make any potential book better and as good as it can be feel free to share also! Any help is appreciated as this is a first for me!
