Hello fellow Ketoers!
I have a question about Ketostix. I check once or twice a week to see that I'm still in ketosis, and a lot of the time, it shows negative or trace/small amounts of ketones in my system. Ideally, what SHOULD the Ketostix be reading at?
Thanks everyone!!

Ideally, what SHOULD the Ketostix be reading at? to be honest, no reading is "ideal" concentration of ketones can be based on hormones, fluid intake, eating a high fat meal (MCTs), exercise, etc. alternatively, some people will always test higher and others will test lower. others will never even see a positive on the stick. you can be peeing negatives and still technically be in ketosis. basically ketostix only tests for *excess* ketones, and only one specific type of ketone at that. so i wouldn't put much faith in what they are telling you. to truly know whether or not you are in ketosis is based on a ketone blood concentration of 0.2+ mmol/dl, and mild ketosis is 2+ mmol/dl ...but that's a difficult thing to figure out without the proper tools

no prob. i just made a post in the 'keto info and FAQs' section that includes a summary of 'the ketogenic diet'. there is a more thorough explanation of ketostix there if you care to read it.
