I'm new to Keto and could use some help.
A little background - 61 yo, male, 196 lbs about 25% bf. Started the keto diet (1934 cal, 4%, 20g carb, 68% 146g fat, 28% 135g pro) 2 weeks ago yesterday. 100% of everything I eat is recorded in myfitnesspal and is whole or natural foods; no red meat, dairy (except aged cheddar cheese) or sugar or any kind. The only packaged foods I eat are: 100% peanut butter, canned herring and sardines, clams, coconut oil, olive oil, multi vit and pro-biotics. Resistance training at gym thee days a week, HIIT one day and steady cardio one day.
Observation during past two weeks - I test keto with strips and see very little sign of keto, but it is positive. I have one pair of dress pants that have gotten tighter and the scale (I know not to watch the scale but) stays the same or goes up every time I weight myself. So far I am up 2 pounds; not all all what I would have expected.
Any thoughts from your experiences?
Thanks

Looks to me like you may not be eating enough fat. And did I miss your protein intake? In my opinion, macros are not useful in this context. "Carbs to your tolerance, protein to your threshold, and fat to satiety". It can take up to 6 weeks for some people to achieve ketosis. Be patient. Also, the test strips are not particularly reliable.

In the past I learned that any register on the strips means your in ketosis. The intensity of the color is of no consequence. Working out is not a friend of the scale. Is it possible you have gained muscle while loosing some fat?
